We just have to do something fun when Sweet Butterfly’s cousin came for a visit.  Since both tots love painting, we did a big painting project.

Supplies:
  1. Lots and lots of newspaper to cover my precious tiles (layers of it)
  2. Brushes, sponge
  3. Paints
  4. Plastic plates as palettes
  5. BIG paper to paint on

Learn:
  1. Colours
  2. Shapes
  3. Creativity

Each tot was given their plastic plates and asked “What colour would you like to have?”  The chosen colour is squeeze onto the plates.  We tried to motivate them to try the brush and the various shaped sponges.  Trying to sneak in shapes learning.  Slowly it became messy……First it was their palettes.

Then Sweet Butterfly started painting one foot.

And then the other……

She started painting her legs too.  I told her to do footprints.

She realised that it was slow to use the brush.  So she put her feet in the ‘palette’.

The tots had way too much fun.  It was messy but we enjoyed all this project.  Kids love mess and learn from mess.  I’ll link up to the article I read on how kids learn from mess in another entry.
